Last year I had this weird run-in with a virus that left me completely drained for days, and it made me realize how little I actually knew about antibodies and how they work. I started reading up on how our immune system detects antigens like bacteria, fungi, and viruses, and how it produces specific proteins to neutralize them.

It’s interesting to consider how unpredictable the immune system can be. Sometimes you’re exposed to the same bacteria or virus as someone else and have a completely different experience—one person feels almost nothing, the other gets seriously sick. It really shows that a lot of what happens is influenced by random factors, personal health history, and even genetics. Observing these differences makes me realize how delicate the balance is between staying healthy and getting sick, and that even with all the precautions, there’s always an element of chance. It’s both fascinating and a little nerve-wracking to think about how much our bodies do behind the scenes without us noticing, constantly adapting to threats in ways we can’t fully control.
